The need for excersise/immortality has been eating away at me for the last few years. Smoking/drinking and sitting gets unsatisfacory after a while. So I recently took the chance to walk with an older chap from the leopard, Mal. He's 70+, ex trade union rep, activist and lapsed marathon runner. He's always got a smile on his face and bounces around the place like tigger, despite a recent hip replacement. Decent mentor then. Its the third time I've done the hexthorpe to conisborough river walk and due to a lack of phone credit on mals part, ended up walking it alone today. It's about 6 miles and has been taking me around 3 hours with a coffee stop at sprotborough and a bit of photography. It started off a bit windy and chilly with the odd shower, not unpleasant, especially since a lot of the route has tree cover. By the time I hit sprot, the sun was out and I took the chance to get some pics of the boat inn pub, very
old building, civil war old! Cracked on soon after as the stiffness started to set in. Wasn't walking far before the heavens opened and it rained pretty steadily for the best part of an hour. By the time the hail started, I couldn't help chuckling to myself, I was pissed wet through when I landed at the railway pub in conisborough, landlord pointed me to the radiator. Really enjoyed it. Just need some more local walks now...
