Been working from home this week given the below. All is well at both home and office but Robin's got no leccy on (so he's sitting it out in the showroom) He bought a wind up radio, bless.

Fun & Games
Well, work is crazy at the moment as we're in the middle of pitching for half a dozen things of various sizes and timescales. It's bloody tricky to balance it all given we're a small devco but we're battling on and hopefully we'll be starting something new within the month.
Sadie is enjoying her work placement, she's been 3d modelling and managed to produce quite a few objects of varying complexity. Looking back to my early days doing 3D, I think she's caught on very quickly (I didn't have a Robin around then though!). Still lots to learn but very well done anyway kid!
My next trip is going to be Develop Brighton, which is where the infamous food buckaroo 'happened' last year. I don't think I'll be in that kind of shape this year. I'm too old for this shit, but as they say 'Life will find a way'.

Home Sweet Home
Got back from Monaco a couple of hours ago to a nice brew and a lay down. Sadie was still up and had a smile and a cuddle for me. She's been working at Gamesauce for her 2 week placement and seems to be enjoying it (she'll probably enjoy it less when I get back in tomorrow ;).
Once we were above the clouds, we couldn't see land until decending into Leeds Bradford. We knew it wasn't going to be too sunny here. Got clear of the airport in 40 mins or so and was home for 10ish.
On balance, the Monaco conference, although quiet, turned out to be worthwhile. I made a very interesting contact and will be following up on that over the coming months. This was quite aside from the interesting and frank discussions I had with a fair few people about the mobile market. Below the operators, it's a real mess but interesting applications are being developed that could be incredibly profitable for the developer. The big problems are costly data rates and getting people to actually see your product. Although we'll soon have flat rate data calls in the UK, I don't think people browse around on their mobiles, it's clumsy and not very satisfying, so unless you're on the "games link" of an operator, your game isn't seen and the size of the market is irrelevant. One guy told me that the mobile operators recoup their capital investment every 7 days, they paid a bob or two for the licences of course, but it's essentially a licence to print money.

Monaco Calling
Well, after an uneventful journey from leeds bradford, only delayed an hour (gave us chance to down another grolch!) we have arrived. The weather is lovely as you would imagine. The hotel is clean, that's all you can say about it. The rooms don't have my 2 important requirements, no bloody shower (just a head that you have to hold yourself, I had a stand up wash) also no tea/coffee? WTF is that all about?
Going Native
We were out of the hotel and down to the centre in 30 mins, tracing the Grand Prix circuit for a mile or so. There was some kind of Regatta on with hundreds of people about, watching crap french dancing (they bloody love twirling about in a pretentious manner). We ate at the Stars & Bars, 5.50 euros for a Corona, cigs were 8.50. Food was fine and there was plenty of it.
More as it comes.
